Foursquare now boasts 20 million users

Did you check-in on 4sqday yesterday? I sure did and achieved the special 2012 4sqday badge…WOOT! But I quickly learned that I wasn’t alone on Foursquare…20 million users and growing to be exact.

Foursquare tops 20 million users – USA Today – Technology Live:

With fans of Foursquare celebrating 4sqday (four-squared is 16), the location-based service is sharing some eye-popping user numbers.

According to a post on Foursquare’s official blog, the service now boasts 20 million users that have logged an astonishing 2 billion check-ins.

To mark 4sqday, which kicked off in 2010, Foursquare CEO Dennis Crowley and company posted a thank-you video.

“Two years and two billion check-ins later, you’re still why we get out of bed each day. Thanks to all 20 million of you for making us part of your lives,” reads the message from Foursquare’s blog.

It’s a remarkable milestone for the service, which lets users “check-in” at various destinations and earn badges. Just last June, Foursquare used this detailed infographic to announce it had crossed the 10 million-user mark.
